No matter how hard we may try, grief and loss cannot be avoided. They are integral and necessary parts of our life experience. Whether it is a small disappointment or the loss of our closest loved one, grief impacts us physically and psychologically in ways that demand our attention and compassion.
I have a unique approach to grief counseling that includes the use of specific mind/body therapies, talk therapy, and special techniques I have learned working as a caregiver and bereavement volunteer with Hospice. Grief and loss are portals to the whole range of our emotional and affective experience, offering us tremendous opportunities for significant growth and transformation.
I’ve been working with Don for six months now, and he has really helped me deal with not only my anger issues, but with my grief as well. With Don, I’ve enjoyed a better level of communication with others and internally with myself. He’s shown me how to confront my feelings, to give them space to exist and to eventually work through them, instead of simply turning them all into frustrated anger and never dealing with anything. I’ve improved relationships with family and friends, all from using the techniques Don has gone over with me. Don is a very nice man, very attentive, and very helpful.
